legal. some even selling counterfeit drugs that may be dangerous, even deadly. here's abc's jim avila now. >> reporter: it's a moving target of as many as 40,000 active online pharmacies, a huge majority of them fly by night start-ups, that the fda warned today sell at a cut-rate price but deliver expired, contaminated and fake drugs that could harm the consumer. >> you have no assurance of the safety, efficacy or quality of those products. >> reporter: how easy is it to set up an online pharmacy? two uc-san diego medical researchers showed me how they set up their own fake drug store using search engines, facebook and twitter to draw potential buyers. so, do you have to have a pharmaceutical degree to set up one of these websites? >> oh, not at all. we basically created a web ad which was very descriptive. has a medical professional, a picture of a person we just purchased. and we were able to post it online without any verification or requirements at all. >> reporter: it's so easy, setting up a hit-and-run pharmacy is lightning fast to start, and even faster to disappear before auth

unbolted in midair. abc's senior national correspondent jim avila now telling us the latest. jim? >> reporter: diane, american tonight grounded half its fleet of 757s, its domestic long-range workhorse, taken out of service for a second round of faa monitored fixes to prevent passenger seats from becoming dislodged in the air. at one point, one of them even turned over backwards into the row behind it. the airline's engineering team has decided the locking mechanism that secures the seat to the floor must be enhanced. it's another setback for american, which suffered record delays in september, for what it blamed on labor troubles, claiming its pilots intentionally caused delays twice as often as its competitors, something the pilots' union has denied. the seat trouble has racheted things up to now a safety issue. the seats on three flights came unhinged. just yesterday, american said it finished its inspections but now is ordering mechanics to fix the seats again, wherever the 48 planes involved land next, anywhere in the country. a move that will cause cancellations and more de

loose. abc's senior correspondent jim avila is here. >> reporter: good morning, josh. abc news has confirmed that american airlines is investigating how and why a row of seats aboard one of its boeing 757s, flying between boston and miami came loose from the coach cabin in mid flight on saturday night. forcing the pilot to go to j.f.k. airport in new york. while no one was hurt, three passengers were moved to other seats in the cabin, and once the plane landed safely, the passengers and all of them boarded another flight to miami. they suffered a three-hour delay. the faa and american have been investigating the cause of the issues. american, of course, has been suffering through labor issues as it goes through bankruptcy in attempts to cut its maintenance workforce. this comes on top of lots of problems for the airline as it suffers what it fears are pilot sick-outs and delays that have inkconvenienced passengers. what has happened so far, the faa said it's monitoring closely. the union has nothing do with this or any of the delays. josh? >>> breaking news overnight from afghanist

, jim avila, has been on this story from the beginning. jim, if nothing else, they think they've solved the problem this time. >> reporter: good morning, josh. two important things for american passengers to note this morning. first of all, american says they have, indeed, found the cause. and are now retrofitting all of those 757s with an additional lock, a bolt, that will bolt the seats to the floor and make sure they don't flip around anymore. three of them did in three, separate flights during the week here in the last few days. one of them, even flipping the seats back into the row behind them. the second important thing to note, as you say, this will mean lots of delays and cancellations. in fact, nearly 100 cancellations in the last two days. they'll continue through saturday, maybe into sunday. and then, though, american airlines says, the good news is, it will all be fixed and things will get back to normal. josh? >> that's very good news, indeed. jim avila, thank you for that. >>> investigators now say it's possible that the border patrol agent killed on duty near the a

. the debate took place at the university of denver in colorado, it was moderated by jim lehrer from pbs and sponsored by mountain dew code red. they have sponsors. this is the first debate, it's key because if a candidate does well, they can sometimes go on to become president. so, you really want to have a good showing. the debate, i think, it's still happening right now as we tape the show. the candidates decided who would get to speak first tonight via a coin toss, which was confusing for mitt romney, they had to explain what a coin was. he had never seen one before. [ laughter ] and it also happens to be, tonight happens to be the obama's 20th wedding anniversary. that seems very convenient. honey, i'd love to go to the ballet with you, but i'm debating mitt romney that night. hey, mitt, help me out, will you? they're just not essential. he said to jim lehrer. look, i love pbs, i love big bird, but big bird is going to go. he would end subsidies for pbs. got a laugh. blew up twitter. everybody was talking about it. i tweeted i think we need a fact check, does mitt romney really love big bird. seemed to get attention. people were interested in us going back and looking whether or not he really does, what is mitt romney's record on big bird. >> moving on to something a little more substantive than "sesame street." i mean, you're not going to find a lot of people out there who thought the president won last night. he really by all accounts. both side of the aisle, a lackluster kind of dry, flat, performance. is that what you are hearing as well? >> rob, the people that think the president won were the ones that were die-hards in his corner or the people that are getting a paycheck from the campaign office in chicago. the president came out, a little flat, he came out on the defensive. never really able to gain his ground. mitt romney though, you have to give him credit. he was really prepared.
